Birmingham, AL (May 3, 2011) ------ The devastation of their home state has deeply affected the band members of Rush Of Fools, who live in the Birmingham area. They have quickly volunteered to roll up their sleeves and actually get to work to help rebuild the devastation of last week’s tornadoes.
Rush Of Fools has teamed with local Christian radio station, 93.7 WDJC to help publicize the major donation effort that will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, May 4th, 7:00 am CDT at three area churches. Many volunteers, including all band members of Rush Of Fools, will be receiving donated items that will be delivered to Bethel Baptist Church, 635 9th Way, Pleasant Grove, Alabama 35127. All donations will be handed out to the members of the community whose town was literally destroyed by the tornadoes on April 27th.
"In times of tragedies like we have experienced in the city of Birmingham, it is the call of God's people to step up and be the hands and feet of Jesus for their communities,” says Kevin Huguley of Rush Of Fools. “As one of the Fools, I can say that we are honored as a band to be just a small part of seeing God rebuild our beautiful city."
Here are the donation locations and all three locations will be accepting items for a 12-hour period from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm CDT.
Trinity United Methodist Church
1400 Oxmoor Road
Homewood, AL 35209
First Baptist Church
128 North Chalkville Road
Trussville, AL 35173
Items that are needed for the tornado victims in Pleasant Grove are: rubber maid storage bins, gasoline with gasoline cans, rolls of plastic tarps, Coleman stoves, kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid, work gloves, roofing nails, chain saws & chain saw oil, spark plugs, box cutters, duct tape, parking tape and dispenser, coolers, sunglasses and reading glasses. Of course donation items of new unopened packages of underwear and non-perishable food items are welcome.
Rush Of Fools will continue with their own volunteer efforts over the next several months with rebuilding, cleaning up, and any other work required to help see people and their city get back on its feet.
Additionally, on Sunday, May 15, Rush Of Fools will be part of the line up for Third Day’s upcoming benefit concert being held at the BJCC in Birmingham. Others taking part in the evening are Pastor David Nasser of Christ City Church (Rush Of Fools home church), James Spann, radio show hosts Rick & Bubba, and many more featured guests will be announced soon.
